T. Paul Tremont

Acknowledged as one of the Deans of the Trial Bar, T. Paul Tremont (1933- 1999) received numerous awards and recognitions during the forty years that he practiced as a jury lawyer. Upon receiving a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from Georgetown University Law School, Paul plunged into the arena of the Connecticut courtrooms gaining such success that he was elected the youngest President of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association.

While championing the cause for victims of serious injury, he molded the firm into a group of attorneys which has been instrumental in advancing the law of this State. As a result of Tremont & Sheldon's court victories, insurance companies were forced to pay full coverage for each premium dollar it charged uninsured motorists customers, thereby doubling and quadrupling injured persons' recoveries; municipalities were required to pay in the millions of dollars for injuries caused to innocent victims of reckless police activities; suppliers of potentially dangerous products such as natural gas and anesthesia have been held to the highest standard of care when causing crippling injury and death.

On the basis of his achievements, Paul was inducted into the American College of Trial Lawyers whose membership consists of less than 1% of the practicing attorneys in the United States. He was also acknowledged by The Best Lawyers In America® as one of the top personal injury lawyers in the country. Throughout his professional career, Paul Tremont served as the Connecticut President of the The American Board of Trial Advocates and President of the Greater Bridgeport Bar Association. He also acted as a Special Master for the State and Federal Judiciary, Connecticut State Chairman of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and Chairman of the Practice and Procedure Section of the Connecticut Bar Association. In 1998, he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association for his prominence in the legal community.
