In addition to Tremont & Sheldon's commitment to the representation of clergy abuse victims, we also represent the survivors of childhood sexual abuse perpetrated by family members, friends, relatives, teachers and coaches. Tremont & Sheldon has successfully pursued civil cases for victims of these heinous criminal acts. In Connecticut, the statute of limitations allows adults who have been abused as children until their 48th birthday in which to make a claim. Many times, the victims of these abuses have never sought treatment or counseling. In order to pursue a claim, it is sometimes necessary for the client to be evaluated by the appropriate medical professional for purposes of litigation. At Tremont & Sheldon, we conduct thorough investigations, including asset and background checks, in order to assess the viability of making a civil claim and enforcing a civil judgment against child molesters.
Please see The Church File for more detailed information with regard to clergy sexual abuse.
